Abstract

The Diário Íntimo, by Lima Barreto (1881-1922), will be approached here as a laboratory of short stories, chronicles or novels, as a text with literary value in itself and, also, as a historical-biographical document. No notion of truthfulness or lies will be put into dispute, the interest is a certain personality born from a more or less fragmentary narrative. f any identity has something fictional about it, for those around it and even for the individual himself, this human life will also exist for posterity as a psychosocial unit through texts.
