Abstract

Literary literacy has as principle, considering the importance of reading and training readers, to make a person a member of the collective community that is humanity. For such understanding occur, it is necessary for literature to fulfill its role within education, showing itself capable of expanding students' imagination and, in addition, contributing to reading and writing practices. If reading and writing are basic skills towards participatory citizenship, improving these skills should be constant concerns inside (and outside) the high school classroom.
