Abstract

The present article aims to discuss the changes in the curriculum of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora's serial entrance exam, the Mixed Selection Program (Pism), and the consequences for the formation of literature readers in high school. To do so, different perspectives on selection practices for higher education and their consequences for education in Brazil are discussed, especially when influenced by critical currents and educational guiding documents. Additionally, previous versions of the program will be presented, and an analysis will be conducted on how changes in content were influenced by different perspectives of Literature, as well as its relationship with society and education. It is concluded that the new program assists in the possibility of forming a literary reader who reads beyond literature, being capable of reading life and the social world in which they live.
