From beloved queen to foreign woman
D. Leonor of Aragon, the regent blemished by the rumor

The development of monarchies in the late Middle Ages involved numerous factors, among them the use of information has been the object of increasing investigations of historiography.The kingdom of Portugal expresses such importance of information and rumors and this article discusses the case of the regency begun after the death of King D. Duarte (1438) and the minority of the crown prince. Considering this case, the study focuses on the Chronica de El-Rei D. Affonso V, by Rui de Pina, and analyzes the presence of rumors in the context of disputes around of the Portuguese regency, problematizing how such information contributed to maculate the image of queen D. Leonor.
