Reflections on school history and teaching by competences at BNCC

The following article aims to provide reflections on School History and on competency teaching present at the National Curricular Common Base (BNCC), in the final years of Elementary School. In our opinion, even if it is transposed by democratic and progressive principles, the School History, set forth in the document, does not allow the teacher to overcome the traditional model of teaching. In addition, the notion of school competence, widely used in the BNCC as the new ‘philosopher's stone’ of Brazilian education hides old problems of education policies, among them, public investment.
